How do I choose the right size vibrating screed for my project?

To choose the right size, consider the following points:

  • Slab width: For wide concrete slabs without obstacles, a long screed (3-4 metres or more) gives you much better performance.
  • Manoeuvrability: In small areas with columns or many nooks and crannies, you need a short screed (1.5 to 2.5 metres). It is more manageable and can be easily controlled by a single operator.
  • Type of concrete and requirements: Concrete with low slump or a job with high flatness requirements may require a heavier, more robust screed to ensure good compaction, regardless of length.

As a rule of thumb, measure the width of the areas to be concreted and choose a slightly shorter screed so that you can manoeuvre well at the edges.
